Flora Expo2010-Bangalore

6th International Flora Expo 2010 along with AgriTech & GrainTech 2010 was held between 20-22 August 2010 at the Palace Ground, Bangalore to popularise agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, latest development in the field of agri processing and farm machineries.

India, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan along with other Countries of South Asia.

The event provided opportunities for manufacturers, growers, breeders, dealers, packers, wholesalers, importers exporters and distributers of the following products;

  • Gardening - Potting Composts, Containers, Hanging Baskets, Etc.

  • Packaging, Decorating & Accessories - Packaging Material Wrapping Paper Flower Vases Baskets Floral Foam etc.

  • Seeds - Flower Seeds Vegetable Seeds, Medicinal Plants etc

NCPAH participated through Precision Farming Development Centre(PFDC), Bangalore to showcase plasticulture applications & precision farming techniques, GoI schemes on Micro Irrigation and National Horticulture Mission, circulated literatures on plasticulture applications, plasticulture system suppliers directory etc during the three days event. At NCPAH stall information was provided about NCPAH & its activities, technology aspects on greenhouse technology, Shadenet-house, drip, fertigation, farm pond lining, plastics mulches along with financial assistance available for floriculture under GoI schemes NHM & HMNH.

PFDC, Bangalore prepared literatures on cultivation of various flowers such as Rose, Carnation, Gerbera under Greenhouse in Kannada language, which are kept as distribution material for the visitors at the stall.

There were 126 exhibitors including Department of Horticulture from various states, plastics industries, greenhouse fabricators, nursery entrepreneurs and others like banks, agriculture equipment companies, fertilizer manufacturing companies etc at the expo. Greenhouse modules – both single and multispan, along with samples of cladding materials and cool cell pad, different components used for drip installation in the field, filters, hydro cyclone, fertigation tank and water soluble fertilizers used for fertigation, different micron plastics mulch, shadenets with different colours and shade per cent were on display. Live flowers of rose, carnation, gerbera, asiatic lilies, orchids, filler materials like asparagus, golden rod being cultivated in greenhouse were also displayed.

During the three days nearly 20,000 visitors got exposure about protected cultivation and different plasticulture applications used in Floriculture. The PFDC personnel at NCPAH stall shared field experiences while answering the queries of the visitors. The visitors profile included farmers, entrepreneurs, city dwellers, officers from different banks, departments, plastics industries etc. Visitors appreciated the efforts made by the NCPAH stall to provide information with regard to all aspects of greenhouse technology – construction, management, production technology of flowers and addresses of different fabricators & suppliers. Many of the visitors at stall expressed interest to attend training programmes conducted by the PFDC, Bangalore with regard to greenhouse technology & other protected cultivation practices.

NCPAH stall at the expo was awarded as the "Excellent Display Stall " by Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner, GoK & Additional Secretary; Economic Advisor to CM, Govt. of Karnataka.

Foreword Path: The expo provided an impetus to the floriculture sector by providing a platform to share latest development in varieties, cultivation practices, technologies, market network, exporters etc for different stakeholders. NCPAH stall generated lot of interest among visitors about protected cultivation & plasticulture applications relevant in Indian floriculture industry. The expo provided a forum to popularise GoI schemes and technologies developed by PFDC, Bangalore for promoting plasticulture application for floriculture sector and beneficiaries become competitive in the changing market scenario.
