The Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT)
was established on 24th August,1962 with the objectives of imparting teaching,
conducting research and attending to extension programmes in the field
of agriculture and allied sciences.
At present there are seven constituent colleges which give education in
Agriculture, Agricultural engineering, Veterinary science, Fishery science,
Home science, Forestry and Basic sciences.
The university has research network covering all the ten agroclimate zones
of the state.It has eight regional research and technology transfer stations,
four regional research and technology transfer substations and ten commodity
research centres covering the ten agroclimatic zones of the state.
The university generates improved technology in agriculture and related
fields through its research network. These technologies are disseminated
to the farmers' field through various extension education programmes.At
present there are eleven krishi vigyan kendras operating under this university
indifferent districts of Orissa.These KVKs
are entrusted with the transfer of technology programmes.
