Brief write up on the institute
|
|
The Rajendra Agricultural University, Bihar established
on 3.rd December, 1970 with headquarters at Pusa is one of the premier
state Agricultural University of the country. The university is paying
a significant role in enhancing the productivity in the eastern region
as the natural resources of this tract have not been fully utilized. It
has different faculties for emparting education in the field of Agriculture
and Allied subjects among which Faculty of Agricultural Engineering is
also one of them established on 7th December,1983 at Pusa (Samastipur).
It is the most coveted institution of India. University is situated about
19 km towards north-west of the district Samastipur and 35 km towards
east of the neighboring district Muzaffarpur. In between these two districts
Pusa Road Railway Station is also situated from where the university headquarters
is only 12 km far towards north. College of Agricultural Engineering comprises
of five departments in which dept. of Soil & Water Conservation Engg.
is also one of them. PFDC Scheme runs successfully in this department
since its inception although the departments are small but their teachers/scientists
and staffs try their best to make their presence felt in teaching, research
and extension by cooperating each other. In addition to these departments,
the college has several All India Coordinated Research Projects (A.I.C.R.Ps)
of ICAR on Water Management, Farm Machinery and Post Harvest Technology.
Beside these several ad-hoc research schemes also run time to time under
different renounced scientists which further add the research activities
of the institute.
