Plast India - 2009

PlastIndia-2009, 7th in series was held between 4th February to 9th February 2009 to showcase International Plastics Exhibition and Conference at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. During the six day mega event it provided platform to establish strategic business prospects, alliances, technology transfer etc for high quality plastics products confirming to International standards.

NCPAH created "Precision farming & Plasticulture Park" in 255 sqm area opposite to the Hall No-12 & was awarded as the "Outstanding Stall Winner" for displaying range of Plasticulture applications, major system components, samples of plant protection nets, shadenets, plastics films, crates, pots, poly bags, protrays, UV films & GoI schemes on Micro Irrigation and National Horticulture Mission etc to give impetus to agriculture & horticulture sectors in India.

During the event eminent visitors at NCPAH stall were Hon'ble Speaker, Lok Sabha, Govt. of India, Secretary, (A&C), MoA, GoI, Under Secretary (NHM), Chairman (Ecoplast), PIF members etc. NCPAH demonstrated live demonstration of Greenhouse, Shadenet house, Low tunnels, Plastics Mulching, Soil Solarisation, Use of Plastics in Nursery management, Drip & Micro-mini sprinklers Irrigation System, Use of irrigation system under Greenhouse & Shadenet house, Water harvesting Pond lined with PE film & woven fabric Vermi Bed etc for the visitors at the stall. Scientists from different Precision Farming Development Centres explained the use of Plasticulture applications to the visitors. During the PlastIndia 2009 overwhelming responses were received from different categories of visitors at Plasticulture Park created by the NCPAH.

NCPAH developed a new brochure on various Plasticulture applications along with GoI schemes on Micro Irrigation and National Horticulture Mission. At the same time developed a set of new display panels carrying relevant information on each Plasticulture application which helped the visitors to understand by looking at the live demonstration of each application.


In the covered stall area developed a documentary section to showcase use of Plasticulture applications in horticulture and agriculture. NCPAH developed selected package of practices developed by its Precision Farming Development Centres and circulated during the event for creating awareness on adoption of these applications.

Hon'ble Speaker (Lok Sabha) visited the Precision Farming & Plasticulture Park - NCPAH and devoted valuable time to understand each application and its role in optimizing utilization of agricultural inputs for increasing the productivity thereby meeting the food demand of the nation. He was happy to see field knowledge interface with display panels depicting relevant information on each application. He interacted with the scientists of Precision Farming Development Centres and emphasized the role of NCPAH to make these applications more popular at the grass root level in the country.

The Union Agriculture Secretary visited the NCPAH stall to understand each live demonstration at Precision Farming & Plasticulture Park. He interacted with the NCPAH officials and Scientists from various PFDCs. More over he emphasized NCPAH's role in creating awareness about the Micro Irrigation and National Horticulture Mission to meet its mandate so that the productivity of the agriculture & horticulture sector would enhance & encourage the million of farmers to adopt these cutting edge technologies to save water, land and other important agricultural inputs in ensuing time.

Forward Path
The PlastIndia 2009 would give a fillip to the scope of protected cultivation and precision farming through plasticulture applications in the agriculture & horticulture sectors in India. The response received at the NCPAH Stall during the event justifies that Plasticulture applications are one of the most useful indirect agricultural inputs, which hold the promise to transform Indian agriculture under the central sponsored schemes on Micro Irrigation and protected cultivation under National Horticulture Mission of MoA, GoI.
